Inmate Assaults Three Officers at Apalachee Correctional Institution East

SNEADS, Fla. — On July 14, Inmate Tyrece Fleming (DC# 383708) stabbed three correctional officers at Apalachee Correctional Institution East. Using an improvised weapon, Fleming inflicted serious injuries to the officers. Additional security staff immediately responded, and Fleming was subdued.

Our officers were examined and treated by medical staff and transported to an area hospital for additional treatment of injuries. They have since been released from the hospital.

The Department’s Office of Inspector General is conducting an investigation and the Office of Institutions is reviewing the incident to determine necessary action.
