FDC Assault Advisories | January 15 – January 21, 2020

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.

Sumter Correctional Institution: On January 16, Inmate Michael Peterson (G70209) assaulted an officer by striking them in the stomach with a closed fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

New River Correctional Institution: On January 16, Inmate Charles Shellings (V09828) assaulted an officer by kicking them in the stomach. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On January 17, Inmate Christopher Potter (U24392) assaulted an officer by striking them with a food tray. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Lowell Annex: On January 17, Inmate Amy Ferguson (F80666) assaulted officers by striking them in the face with a closed fist. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Hamilton Correctional Institution: On January 19, Inmate Monterris Stewart (Q60088) assaulted officers by spitting, kicking and striking them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Marion Correctional Institution: On January 19, Inmate Clayvon Kemp (I46967) assaulted an officer by striking them in both forearms. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Santa Rosa Annex: On January 21, Inmate Eric Collins (131760) assaulted an officer by elbowing them in the ribs. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Florida Women’s Reception Center: On January 21, Inmate Felicia Webster (H07934) assaulted an officer by pushing them into a door. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

Reception Medical Center: On January 21, Inmate Marvin Pace (B02617) assaulted an officer by grabbing their hand. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
