FDC Assault Advisories | July 27 – August 2, 2021
This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.
Florida State Prison: On July 28, Inmate Vinson Washington (C06150) assaulted an officer by punching them in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On July 28, Inmate McKenzie Shivers (H90207) assaulted two officers by striking them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On July 29, Inmate Devin Whitfield (B50276) assaulted an officer by headbutting them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
Desoto Annex: On July 29, Inmate Huvens Dort (Q50254) assaulted two officers by punching them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
Hardee Correctional Institution: On July 29, Inmate Zachary Thomas (G26350) assaulted an officer by slapping them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.
Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On July 30, Inmate Devin Whitfield (B50276) assaulted an officer by headbutting them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
Calhoun Correctional Institution: On August 2, Inmate Kristopher Jenkins (H11848) assaulted an officer by striking them with a food tray. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.
Columbia Annex: On August 2, Inmate Jonathan Mix (R52485) assaulted an officer by punching them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.
