FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

FDC ASSAULT ADVISORIES | December 21 – December 27, 2023

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.

Century Correctional Institution: On Wednesday, December 27, inmate Justin McDonald (L90595) assaulted multiple correctional officers by throwing food trays at them. The incident was captured on camera.  

 Century Correctional Institution: On Wednesday, December 27, inmate Benjamin Allen (B12242) assaulted multiple correctional officers by throwing food trays at them. The incident was captured on camera.  

 Tomoka Correctional Institution: On Wednesday, December 27, inmate Lyn Smith (111489) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s ankle. The incident was captured on camera.

 Suwannee Correctional Institution: On Tuesday, December 26, inmate Antwan Daniels (P45433) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Cross City Correctional Institution: On Tuesday, December 26, inmate Cassell Wimbush (N71348) assaulted a correctional officer by striking the officer in the rib cage.  

 Holmes Work Camp: On Tuesday, December 26, inmate Jimmy Sprowes (N24297) assaulted a correctional officer by striking the officer in the face.

 Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On Tuesday, December 26, inmate Rones Sagesse (Y58036) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Jackson Correctional Institution: On Tuesday, December 26, inmate Melvin Hestle (P25648) assaulted a correctional officer by striking the officer in the leg. The incident was captured on camera.

 Desoto Annex: On Monday, December 25, inmate Jonathan Bizcaino (B50150) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s arm.

 Century Correctional Institution: On Monday, December 25, inmate Benjamin Allen (B12242) assaulted a correctional. The incident was captured on camera.

 Reception and Medical Center: On Monday, December 25, inmate Christian Rollins (C90249) assaulted a correctional officer by pushing the officer against a wall. The incident was captured on camera.

 Charlotte Correctional Institution: On Monday, December 25, inmate Jersson Zelaya (F60192) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Lowell Annex: On Sunday, December 24, inmate Zabada Highsmith (W15629) assaulted a correctional officer by throwing a food tray at the officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Jackson Correctional Institution: On Sunday, December 24, inmate Javier Bermudez (T97224) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Martin Correctional Institution: On Saturday, December 23, inmate Demetrius Lucas (F00977) assaulted a correctional officer by aggressively patting the officer’s back.

 TTH Bartow: On Saturday, December 23, inmate Joel Cote (Y46188) assaulted a staff member by poking the employee in the chest. The incident was captured on camera.

 Dade Correctional Institution: On Friday, December 22, inmate Steven Brown (P62287) assaulted a correctional officer by striking the officer’s hand. The incident was captured on camera.

 Florida Women’s Reception Center: On Friday, December 22, inmate Katheryn Blackmon (H42935) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On Friday, December 22, inmate Kit Darrant (B14127) assaulted a correctional officer by hitting the officer in the head. The incident was captured on camera.

 Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On Friday, December 22, inmate Willie Smith (808562) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Okaloosa Correctional Institution: On Friday, December 22, inmate Victor Rivera-Rodriguez (B31535) assaulted a correctional officer by throwing an object at the officer, hitting the officer’s back. The incident was captured on camera.

 Okaloosa Correctional Institution: On Friday, December 22, inmate Devon Merrit (G40502) was receiving counseling when the inmate assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Charlotte Correctional Institution: On Thursday, December 21, inmate Maurice Jenkins (N81145) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

 Martin Correctional Institution: On Thursday, December 21, inmate Darius Wilson (E20161) assaulted a correctional officer by throwing a food tray and striking the officer.

 Reception and Medical Center: On Thursday, December 21, inmate Jeffery Patterson (C60349) assaulted a staff member by grabbing the employee’s wrist.

 Lowell Annex: On Thursday, December 21, inmate Jasmine Whitaker (G91444) assaulted a correctional officer by kicking the officer in the leg. The incident was captured on camera.
