FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS

FDC ASSAULT ADVISORIES | February 1 – February 7, 2024

This is a report of assault advisories that occurred during the specified timeframe. An assault advisory is issued by the Department of Corrections whenever a correctional officer or probation officer is attacked in the line of duty. All assaults are investigated, and disciplinary action is imposed in accordance with policy.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On Wednesday, February 7, Inmate Erik Smith (V52658) assaulted multiple correctional officers by striking one officer in the head and the other in the leg. The incident was captured on camera.

Zephyrhills Correctional Institution: On Wednesday, February 7, Inmate Travis Horne (134477) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s legs. The incident was captured on camera.

Tomoka Correctional Institution: On Wednesday, February 7, Inmate Thomas McCoy (D40377) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Okeechobee Correctional Institution: On Tuesday, February 6, Inmate Juan Matos (285663) assaulted a correctional officer.

Florida State Prison: On Tuesday, February 6, Inmate Terrell Newson (L71478) assaulted multiple correctional officers by grabbing the officers. The incident was captured on camera.

Columbia Annex: On Monday, February 5, Inmate Robert King (181816) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Florida Women’s Reception Center: On Monday, February 5, Inmate Jonliscia Howard (K42144) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: On Monday, February 5, Inmate Luis Castillo (M82509) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Homestead Correctional Institution: On Sunday, February 4, Inmate Deneshya Poole (I32080) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Northwest Florida Reception Center: On Saturday, February 3, Inmate Enrique Medrando (W23348) assaulted a correctional officer by pushing the officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Hardee Correctional Institution: On Saturday, February 3, Inmate Mark Davis (Q09246) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Jackson Correctional Institution: On Saturday, February 3, Inmate Markee Felton (K82580) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s legs. The incident was captured on camera.

Cross City Correctional Institution: On Friday, February 2, Inmate Corey Jackson (167318) assaulted a correctional officer by punching the officer in the face. The incident was captured on camera.

Hardee Correctional Institution: On Friday, February 2, Inmate Jhamari Jones (W90523) assaulted a correctional officer by striking the officer’s arms.

Columbia Annex: On Friday, February 2, Inmate Eric Mapp (424746) assaulted a staff member by pushing the employee’s chest.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On Friday, February 2, Inmate Malcolm Wilson (127166) assaulted a correctional officer by biting the officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Holmes Correctional Institution: On Friday, February 2, Inmate Antonio Soto-Rivera (Q41350) assaulted multiple correctional officers. The incident was captured on camera.

Apalachee Correctional Institution: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Quinn Crosby (L10476) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s shirt. The incident was captured on camera.

Walton Correctional Institution: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Christopher Mercado (V91040) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s legs. The incident was captured on camera.

Reception and Medical Center: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Bryon Flowers (T90098) assaulted a correctional officer by grabbing the officer’s arm. The incident was captured on camera.

Northwest Florida Reception Center: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Adrian Bernal (W05927) assaulted a contracted staff member by pushing the employee.

Reception and Medical Center: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Christopher Varner (P92217) assaulted a correctional officer by putting the officer in a headlock. The incident was captured on camera.

Florida State Prison: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Otis Jacobs (T84745) assaulted a correctional officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Polk Correctional Institution: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Mykiam Buggs (T95102) assaulted a correctional officer by pushing the officer. The incident was captured on camera.

Lawtey Correctional Institution: On Thursday, February 1, Inmate Germany Jones (X87156) assaulted a correctional officer by putting the officer in a headlock. The incident was captured on camera.
